A day at Pehchaan The Street School..
You all must be thinking, this article is about the normal school
in which we go and study. But, have we ever thought? That there are some
children exist in our society who are not capable of living the life which we
have been living since our childhood. Unfortunately, we all are stuck in a kind
of life from which we cannot come out and also, we do not want as well because
we always believe that we are the only one who is living such a difficult
life, but the bitter truth is that we are unaware of the existence of some people
who are looking for things which we have, but we do not give much importance to
those things. We spend our whole life to achieving something which can make us
happy but unfortunately, we fail to achieve that because it is the human
psychology that nothing is enough for the human being, our wants will never come to
an end.
This article is about the story of Pehchaan the Street
School which has been providing education to underprivileged children residing on
streets and slum areas. We can judge their mindset by their slogan: “GIVE A MAN A FISH
AND YOU FEED HIM FOR A DAY; TEACH A MAN TO FISH AND YOU FEED HIM FOR A
LIFETIME.”
Pehchaan the street school was started in 2015 with just 5
volunteers & 10 children, Pehchaan the Street School, now, has more than
100 active volunteers & more than 700 children registered with them across
5 centers.
They are currently working at Indraprastha Metro Station,
Kirti Nagar Metro Station, Satguru Ram Singh Marg Metro Station, GTB Nagar
& Laxmi Nagar in Delhi, Noida & Dehradun.
They look forward to increase
their centers to other locations as well.
Their dedication and determination towards providing the education
to children who do not have enough resources is remarkable.
Let me narrate a real story of Isha who comes from a family
which does not have enough resources for providing the basic education
facilities to her but as we have schools like Pehchaan which have been helping
such children for a very long time, we do not need to worry as these schools
take care of such children.
One day she comes with her parents for taking admission in
Pehchaan and takes the pledge that she will be a good student and also will
work hard to learn basic education.
Akash and Kanika who are the founders of this Pehchaan meet
the parents of Isha and assure them that she will be a good student very soon.
This is only the effort of Pehchaan and the team by which
Isha became a good student in the school and earned good marks.
It was such a great honor and pleasure as I got to know
about people like Akash and Kanika who are putting their efforts to make our
country more beautiful by educating each and every child does not matter from
which family background a child comes. They are setting a high bar with this
one. Words are not enough to express their dedication to their job.
We should we thankful to god as we got all the resources
which we needed to survive but at the same time, we feel bad for those who do
not have even food to feed themselves.
It is a human tendency that when we see people who are
better than us in terms of the financial condition so, we blame the situations, we
blame our life, we blame our parents but I think that blaming someone or
something is not the solution to the problems. When I saw children studying on
the mats carrying whiteboard and a pen and a curiosity to learn something with
happiness, I realized that they do not have much but still they are happy and
we have enough but still, we don’t want to be happy.
I would say that the only solution we have to all the
problems is, we will have to face them.
While facing difficult situations in our life, we shall
learn those lessons, which are difficult to teach by anyone. The children in
the school are living their lives to the fullest and people like us want
something to be happy does not matter how much the god has given to us but we
need something more to be happy and the irony is nothing won’t be enough to
make us happy in our whole life.
Whatever we have, we should be happy with that and should
not ask for more from God, instead of asking something, we should try to become
capable of achieving what we want then the god won’t take much time to provide
us what we deserve.
The children at school taught me many lessons like how to stay happy with the resources you
have, life is beautiful, live your every moment to the fullest and spread
whatever you have either it is knowledge or happiness.
If anyone wants to visit this school so here is the address
and interested people can also donate for making the life of such children
little easy.
