A 16 year old girl taught the lessons of human actions on the Eco system to world's top political leaders.
Yes, I am talking about Greta Thunberg who really taught the lessons of human
actions on the Earth’s EcoSystem to the world’s top political leaders.
Greta Thunberg (born 3 January 2003)
is a Swedish environmental activist on climate change whose campaigning has
gained international recognition.
Thunberg first became known for her
activism in August 2018 when, at age 15, she began spending her school days
outside the Swedish parliament to call for stronger action on global warming by
holding up a sign saying (in Swedish) "School strike for
climate".
Soon, other students engaged in
similar protests in their own communities. Together they organized a school
climate strike movement under the name Fridays for Future. After Thunberg
addressed the 2018 United Nations Climate Change conference, student strikes
took place every week somewhere in the world. In 2019, there were at least two
coordinated multi-city protests involving over one million students each.
She raised her voice in United Nation
in 2019 by saying “Developed countries can sit like this, they will have to
take bold steps against global warming which is ruining the future of an
upcoming generation. People are suffering, people are dying but powerful
countries are just focussing on the money.
The entire ecosystem is collapsing.
We are beginning of the mass extinction.
There will not be any solutions or
plans presented in line with these figures today. Because these numbers are too
uncomfortable. And you are still not mature enough to tell it like it is.
In just small age she stood and fought
against the ecological crisis when most of the students do not even know about
this concern but her dedication towards pushing the problem in the eyes of the
world’s most powerful countries and leaders made her unique from other
students. She could have studied well and earned good money but decided to
raise the issue which is really very difficult at this small age.
Her speech condemned all the powerful political
leaders who were present there. She has understood that human being is on the
way of destruction of our planet but developed countries still need some time
to stand and fight against it.
Greta Thunberg’s used sea voyage to
attend last month’s United Nations climate summit in New York instead of
flight. She says worldwide, 7.8 billion passengers are expected to travel in
2036 - a near doubling of current numbers. If the business, as usual,
continues, one analysis says the aviation sector alone could emit one-quarter
of the world’s remaining carbon budget - the amount of carbon dioxide emissions
allowed if global temperature rise is to stay below 1.5℃.
According to the study, conducted
by the European Parliament, it has warned that if action to reduce flight
emissions are further postponed, international aviation may be responsible for
22% of global carbon emissions by 2050 - up from about 2.5% now. This
increasing share would occur because aviation emissions are set to grow, while
other sectors will emit less.
The world urgently needs a transport
system that allows people to travel around the planet without destroying it.
If world leaders choose to fail us,
our generation will never forgive them. - Greta Thunberg
For her work and made people hear and
understand the situation of the ecological crisis, she has been nominated for the noble
prize. If Greta is awarded the Nobel Peace Prize on October 11, she would be
the youngest recipient of the prestigious award, which has previously been won
by the likes of Nelson Mandela and Barack Obama former president of the USA.
We need to appreciate her work and
need to take small steps towards this concern otherwise, Humans will turn
Earth into a giant ball of fire by 2600 – Stephen Hawking.
